Annotation styles and easier editing, with fixes since 0.5.1:
Capture hints sit below the bar and no longer block buttons. Recording controls keep the hints outside the captured area.
Side handles resize width or height independently. Text wraps when resized from the sides; corner handles scale the font. Crop frames and pen strokes are easier to move and resize, with Shift for straight movement.
Contextual style controls offer label colors and backgrounds, open or filled arrowheads, contrast outlines, shape fills, highlight opacity, step colors and blur strength. Choices are remembered for each tool.
Style panels have a clear preview, close when you click outside and fit smaller windows. Settings rows and shortcut borders have proper spacing.
Fixed recording review getting stuck when closing after annotations, including Super+W and the save-and-close action.
Install or update with the attached Arch package or the stable omaframe-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst asset. Reopen Omaframe after updating.
The build and all nine test suites passed in an isolated desktop. UI checks covered annotation controls, settings, smaller windows and closing the editor. Rendering and video export were checked with fixtures; physical camera, audio and GPU-specific recording behavior were not retested.
Omaframe remains a beta. GPU Screen Recorder 6.1.0 remains the minimum.
A polish and bug-fix release for screenshots and recordings. Changes since 0.5.0:
Clearer first-run guidance, optional shortcuts and recent edits ordered newest first. Existing settings and dismissed guidance stay intact.
Capture controls fit smaller screens. Recording options keep Start visible, and paused recordings show both elapsed time and Resume.
Cleaner screenshot editing, better label placement and keyboard controls. Failed saves let you change the folder and retry the retained capture.
Video and GIF export progress and Cancel stay visible above the preview. Typing in time fields no longer triggers editor shortcuts.
Copy video works for opened originals and current exports. Undoing back to the original copies the original rather than an older edited export.
Back returns opened videos to the start screen. Settings, folder pickers and camera controls have clearer labels, focus and light/dark contrast.

Crop recordings, return to unfinished edits, add a webcam overlay and export short demos as GIFs. Changes since 0.4.0:
Video crop. Press C and drag to crop the whole clip. Preview with V, reset the crop or undo it.
Recovery drafts. Video edits save automatically in Recent edits, including trim, cuts, sound, marks, crop and camera placement. Reopen a draft to continue. Removing a draft keeps the original and exported files.
Optional webcam overlay. Choose a camera in recording Options. It starts off. After recording, drag the overlay while playback is paused; use Camera to change its size, corner or visibility. Pause, trim and cuts stay aligned with the screen recording. Camera failures leave screen recording running.
Looping GIF export. Export GIF includes your edits and camera overlay, then offers Copy GIF and Show file. GIFs are silent, loop continuously and use up to 720 pixels on the longest edge at 15 fps. Keep the edited clip within 30 seconds. The editor stays open and existing MP4 exports remain available. GIFs can be larger than MP4.
Cleaner review. More preview space in small windows, menus that close with Esc and shortcuts that stay out of the way while menus are open.
Drafts reference the original video, so keep it in place. For camera edits, keep its webcam MP4 and camera JSON sidecar alongside it.

Pause and resume recordings, clearer controls, and protection for unsaved video edits. Changes since 0.3.0:
Pause and resume. Pause keeps the same recording open and leaves the paused time out of the saved video and audio. The timer counts recorded time, and Stop still saves the clip while paused.
Optional pause shortcut. Enable capture shortcuts in Settings for Alt+Shift+Print Screen, including recordings without a visible control. Setup preserves custom bindings. Scripts can use --pause-recording, --resume-recording and --toggle-recording-pause.
Simpler recording controls. Labeled Pause, Resume and Stop buttons, centered contents, clearer sound and microphone options, and recording setup that stays reachable in smaller windows.
Cleaner editing. Named video mark tools, editor controls that fit smaller windows, keyboard access to recent drafts, menus that close with Esc, and a sample image that opens directly in Edit. Settings now show the actual app version.
Protect video edits. Opening another file, starting a capture or quitting offers Cancel, Discard edits or Save and continue. File drops and capture shortcut commands use the same prompt. Save and continue waits until the export succeeds.
Keep edits after errors. Failed saves keep the edits available to retry and show a readable message. A failed file open preserves the current editor and its saved state.
Basic CI. Arch builds, six headless suites, OCR pattern tests and install-layout checks run on pull requests and pushes
Marks on recordings, hiding possible secrets in screenshots, and a fix for displays that are turned off.
Mark up recordings. In review, press G to blur or R to cover something private for the whole clip. Pause and press A, B, T or N for an arrow, box, label or numbered step from there to the end. Select a mark and press I and O to set when it shows.
Hide possible secrets. While you pick a finish, Omaframe reads the screenshot. If it spots something that looks like an API key, token, email, card number, IBAN, public IP or private key, a Hide possible secrets button appears and H redacts them. Shift+H does the same in the editor. It can miss things, so look before you share.
Copy text. Press T in the picker to copy the text in the screenshot. What Omaframe reads stays in memory and is never saved.
Room at the edges. When a capture stops right at a plain background, the finishes carry that background out a little. Raw is unchanged.
Displays that are off. Print Screen no longer gets stuck waiting on a monitor that is off, for example while streaming with Sunshine and Moonlight, and --repeat on an area of a display that is off asks you to select again. Thanks to Diogo Chaves for finding and fixing this (#1).
Secret hiding and copy text need tesseract and tesseract-data-eng, which Omarchy already has. Without them those two features are simply not there.
Fixes shortcut setup on Omarchy stable. Earlier versions called o.rebind, which stable does not provide. Setup now uses hl.unbind and o.bind, and checks support before changing your bindings file.
Open Omaframe from the launcher and click Use Print and Alt+Print. Your bindings file is backed up first; custom shortcuts are left alone. If an earlier attempt failed, close and reopen Omaframe before trying again.
Validated with all five test suites, live shortcut setup using Omarchy 4.0.4's helpers without o.rebind, and dependencies from the stable mirror. Real GPU recording with stable's GPU Screen Recorder 6.1.0 has not been retested. Omaframe remains a screenshot and basic recording beta.
Screenshots and screen recordings for Omarchy and Hyprland. Everything stays on your computer.
Screenshots
Press Print, click a window, drag an area, or press F for the whole display. Pick a finish with 1 to 9 and it is copied and saved. Press E first to crop, blur, redact, draw or add labels. Labels are typed right on the image, and every mark stays movable and resizable. Annotated shots are kept as drafts you can reopen.
Recording
Press Alt+Print, or Tab in the screenshot selector. Turn on sound, the microphone or a countdown right in the bar, then click a window, drag an area or press F. The Stop button is always placed outside what you are recording, or on your other monitor. With nothing to spare on a single monitor, a countdown tells you how to stop and then gets out of the way. Alt+Print or the recording icon in the Omarchy bar stops it.
After stopping, trim the ends or cut out parts, then Copy and close. The video goes on your clipboard, ready to paste into a chat or folder.
First run
The Omaframe window explains the basics and offers to point Print and Alt+Print at Omaframe. It only replaces Omarchy's default actions for those keys, backs up your bindings file first, and never touches a custom binding.
